Ms. Finestien was born in Chicago in 1962. Her father, a onetime professor of linguistics at the University of Heidelberg, ran a successful Lounge Bar on the upper north side of the windy city. She moved to Los Angeles in 1980 to attend UCLA as a Psychology major, but changed to Cal Arts two years later as the artist inside her demanded a voice. She graduated with a BA in Commercial Art in 1985, and immediately joined Saatchi & Saatchi.
